Skinny Fingers
I got weighed this morning and I'm down to 14st 0lb - that's a loss of 16lbs so far!

One of the things I've noticed about my weight loss is that my fingers seem much thinner than they used to be. When I interlock the fingers of my two hands, it feels a little like I'm holding someone else's hands because the fingers are thin. It's a bit creepy in a way.

Web Comics
I would have put this up as a Juniper Choice entry, but it seems as though it's ground to a halt. But what exists of Ben Moy's Comic Diary is definitely worth a read. A very simplistic style, but done with flair and an enconomy with words that actually makes you think more deeply.

TV
The next episode of Black Books is on a little later. The first of the new series was on last week and was a little disappointing after the superb quality of the first two series. Let's hope it improves.

Watched ER last night and was thoroughly impressed with the quality. Although I watch this programme on a regular basis, last night's episode was even better than usual, devoting most of the air time to Carter's time in the Congo. It pulled no punches in the way it blamed the pharmaceutical companies and the western governments for putting blocks in the way of getting much needed medicines to the people that need them most. Definite Programme of the week.

I watched the first of the Nighty Night series on Monday, a series that was originally shown on BBC 3 (which I don't have) and is now being shown on BBC 2. I wish it had stayed on BBC 3. The writing and acting was pretty poor and a weak idea is being stretched out to a whole series when it struggled to support even a single episode. Is there any wonder I find myself preferring US comedies?

Sweeties
Have you seen the recent TV advert for Werther's Original sweets? For those who haven't or are a bit unsure what the heck I'm talking about, the advert starts with a young boy watching his grandfather making a beautiful model of a sailing boat. In the foreground is a large bag of Werther's Original.

It's an incredibly twee advert that seems to centre on the passing from grandfather to grandson of a teeth-rotting tradition that's clearly been in the family for generations. What made me laugh, though was the opening line:

"Grandpa, why do you always eat those sweets?"

At which point the old man reaches into the bag and gives a sweet to the young boy. Talk about having to give a heavy hint to the mean old sod before he parts with one of his precious sweets...

Hull won
The rugby league team I follow, Hull FC, had an easy win yesterday against Castleford to go through to the next round of the Challenge Cup. Well done lads!

There's a rumour going about...
According to this news item on Adventure Gamers, Revolution are developing a sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky. No one ever tells me anything. :)
