Developing Thoughts
My on again, off again column, Developing Thoughts, about my life as a game developer has just started over at the Randomville site. You can read the first of a regular series, here.

Be sure to let me know what you think

Over reaction
This report from The Guardian is very scary.

Don't the authorities realise that they are doing the work of the terrorists for them? Instead of directing resources where they are needed in the battle against terrorism they are muddying the waters with acts like these. Soon you'll be a terrorist for even having thoughts about the subject.

What's the point of a so-called free society if you're not allowed to be free?

The Cyborg Lives
Earlier this evening I visited June in the hospital after she'd had her operation to replace her knee. She wasn't feeling too well and was in a lot of pain. They'd given her something for the pain, but it didn't kick in straight away. Then, when it began to work she started falling asleep, so asked me to leave.

It's always a relief when you see the person has come out the other end of a serious operation. Although operations like this are performed continually, you're so aware that this time it happens to be a person you love and care about. It's natural to be worried, but now I'm concerned about the different pain she's in. Hopefully it will pass swiftly.

Brilliant art exhibition
For those of you who live anywhere near Pocklington in East Yorkshire, there is a beautiful exhibition of paintings on display in the Arts Centre. All paintings are by Wendy Tate and have an exciting warmth that comes from the subjects she chooses and the way she portrays them. If you can't make the exhibition, you can view her paintings on her web site.

Gaming Facts
I've just been reading some gaming facts on Digiplay and one of them in particular intrigued me:

"The leisure software industry is worth $5.5 billion in Europe and $3.5 billion in the UK"

So why is it that in the last year, 25 small developers have closed in the UK and many more are struggling?
